OCTOBER 17
from 9:00 am

  • Welcome and introduction (meeting point in Rebeccu, from where we will all depart together)

  • Presentation of the workshop and daily activities

  • Walk in Parco Mariani

  • Search for ancient soils

  • Observation and collection of natural materials

  • Visit to the Necropolis of Sant’Andrea Priu

  • Discussion on the techniques and materials used to create the Neolithic sacred red

  • Exploration of the Byzantine and Roman frescoes in the necropolis

  • Packed lunch and picnic: everyone brings their own packed meal

AFTERNOON:

  • Preparation of the earth pigment

  • Use of soils collected in Parco Mariani

  • Creation of the natural pigment

  • Drafting preparatory drawings

  • Charcoal sketching on paper to design the individual fresco

  • Preparation of the plaster

  • Traditional recipe with sand and slaked lime


OCTOBER 18
from 9:00 am

  • Work on a terracotta tile

  • Dimensions: 30cm x 30cm

  • Application of the plaster layer as a base for the final painting

  • Fresco painting

  • Use of bristle brushes (boar hair) and earth pigments, including local red ochre

  • Each participant takes home their completed tile

THE WORKSHOP CONCLUDES AT THE END OF THE MORNING, BEFORE LUNCHTIME
